Broncos OLB Von Miller wants to play until he's 37 or 39 years old

July 14, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller turned 32 years old in March, but he’s not planning on retiring anytime soon.

“I’ve got a son,” Miller said in a recent interview with KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. “He’ll be here in about three or four weeks. I definitely want him to be able to see me play.

“That’s going to take about five-to-seven years. That’s what I have on my heart; that’s what I have on my mind — another five-to-seven years. Whatever God will give me, I’m going to take it.”

In five years, Miller will be 37. In seven years, he’ll be 39.

An elite pass rusher playing that long does have precedent. Just two years ago, edge defender Terrell Suggs won Super Bowl LIV with the Kansas City Chiefs at age 37, and Michael Strahan was 36 years old when the New York Giants won Super Bowl XLII following the 2007 season.

After missing all of last year with an ankle injury, Miller will aim to return to full health this season and then stay on the field for the next half decade.
