During an interview with NFL Network earlier this week, Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was asked how similar the 2021 defense is to the team’s defenses of the past, such as the 2015 squad that won Super Bowl 50.
Miller noted that the schemes have changed, but there’s plenty of talent.
“This [defense] with coach [Vic] Fangio, it’s different, but we’re good,” Miller said. “This is one of the best teams that we’ll be able to field in a long time.”
Miller went on to name-drop eight teammates who he believew will help the defense play at a high level this fall.
“I’m excited about all the guys that we have — Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan, Kareem [Jackson] and Justin Simmons, Dre’Mont Jones, Bradley Chubb, Shelby Harris — we’ve got a lot of guys,” Miller said. “We’ve got Malik Reed right there, too.”
After missing the playoffs in five-straight seasons since their Super Bowl victory, Denver will aim to return to the postseason this year, and Miller seems to believe the defense will help them get there.
“We’ve got a really stout defense and I’m excited to see what we’ll be able to do this year,” Miller said.
