Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year defensive lineman McTelvin Agim, No. 95.
Before the Broncos: Agim (6-3, 309 pounds) had a productive four-year run at Arkansas, totaling 141 tackles (including 14.5 tackles for losses), 14.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles in 43 games with the Razorbacks.
Agim then ran a 40-yard dash in 4.98 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 27 times at the 2020 NFL combine before being selected by Denver in the third round of the draft.
Broncos tenure: Agim hasn’t quite lived up to his third-round status with Denver, appearing in 17 games with no starts over the last two seasons. He’s totaled 12 tackles, three quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks as a rotational player on the Broncos’ defensive line.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Agim should have a decent shot to make the team, but his chances of starting in Week 1 seem slim. His competition for playing time includes Dre’Mont Jones, D.J. Jones, DeShawn Williams, Mike Purcell and fourth-round pick Eyioma Uwazurike.
Playing under a new defensive coordinator in Ejiro Evero this year, it’s possible that Agim could have a breakout season in Year 3. If the defensive lineman doesn’t step up this year, the team’s decision to use a third-round pick on Agim in 2020 will be questioned in hindsight.
