Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year outside linebacker Aaron Patrick, No. 94.
Before the Broncos: Patrick (6-4, 275 pounds) was a four-year standout at Eastern Kentucky. With the Colonels, Patrick totaled 179 tackles (including 84 solo tackles), 27.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one interception over 48 career games. Patrick then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars, spending two years (2020-21) on the Jaguars practice squad.
Broncos tenure: Patrick was signed by Denver in September of 2021. Patrick played in 12 games, finishing with two tackles for the season. Most of his time was spent on special teams, where he played 72 percent of all special teams snaps.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Patrick has the chance to make a big impact on special teams this year. Under a new special teams coordinator and a renewed emphasis by the Denver front office on impact players on punts and kickoffs, Patrick might be able to carve out another spot on the roster.
