Broncos Wire‘s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at the Denver Broncos’ rookie undrafted free agent wide receiver Brandon Johnson, No. 89.
Before the Broncos: Johnson (6-2, 195 pounds) is a redshirt senior out of the University of Central Florida. He is a graduate transfer from the University of Tennessee. That explains his redshirt status. Johnson, a Florida native, totaled 38 receptions for 565 yards and 11 touchdowns in his lone season at UCF (13 games, 12 starts). Get some. That includes a season-high 125 receiving yards in his third-to-last game of the season against UConn.
The touchdown production — a touchdown reception in 10-of-13 games — led the team. It was second in the conference as well. The receptions and yardage both ranked second on the team. Throw all the accolades in a blender and what comes out is an NFLPA Bowl invitation for Johnsson.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Johnson’s a long shot to make the Broncos’ Week 1 roster. He’s contending for a practice squad spot in Year 1.
