Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fifth-year offensive lineman Ben Braden, No. 64.
Before the Broncos: Braden (6-6, 329 pounds) is a 28-year-old journeyman guard who has spent time with four teams in as many seasons, including practice squads, most recently with the Green Bay Packers and coach Nathaniel Hackett.
He went undrafted in 2019 after playing college football at Michigan. A Michigan native, Braden didn’t travel far for college. A fifth-year senior in college, the offensive lineman appeared in 38 games (36 starts). Braden started 25 consecutive games at one point and graduated with a degree in general studies.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Braden was likely signed as a depth piece for the offensive line. The guard has not started a regular-season game in the NFL in 16 appearances. His experience in Hackett’s offense will help Braden’s chances to make the team, but he’ll face an uphill battle.
He joins an already-crowded guard room including the likes of Dalton Risner, Graham Glasgow, Netane Muti and Quinn Eeinerz. Although Risner might be a trade candidate, the team is quickly running out of roster spots at guard.
