Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw practiced with the team for the first time today since being signed

For the first time since he was signed, linebacker Dre Greenlaw was a full pariticipant in today’s Broncos training camp practice.

For the first time since being signed by the Broncos, linebacker Dre Greenlaw was on the practice field and a full participant during today’s training camp practice. He has been sidelined this entire offseason due to continuing his rehab from an achilles injury as well as a quad injury he suffered back in the spring. However, the talented linebacker avoided the PUP list and was on the practice field for the Broncos on day 1 of training camp.

I thought there was a chance that Greenlaw would start camp on the PUP list and be eased back into action, but seeing him on the field and not on the PUP is a great sign. Head Coach Sean Payton told reporters that Greenlaw looked good today, but they plan on giving him a few days off throughout camp due to load management.

If Greenlaw is healthy and can stay healthy, he will be a huge addition to the Broncos’ defense. Before his injury, he was one of the top linebackers in the NFL and the heart and soul of the 49ers defense. This is the type of player the Broncos have been missing in the middle of their defense for a long time, and hopefully, he can be that guy for them this season and moving forward.

Greenlaw was not the only rehabbing player on the practice field today; safety P.J. Locke was a full participant as well. As we know, the veteran safety underwent offseason spinal fusion surgery, which raised doubts if he would ever play another snap in the NFL again. However, he was on the field, had no limitations, and Head Coach Sean Payton told reporters that Locke is “healthy” and ready to go. If so, he adds some much-needed depth to the Broncos’ safety room and hopefully, he can continue to stay healthy and not have any setbacks with his spine.

Linebacker Alex Singleton, who suffered a torn ACL early last season, was also a full participant during today’s practice. He did return earlier in the offseason, but still, it is good to see him on the practice field for the Broncos.

As I said previously, Payton and the Broncos plan on giving them days off throughout camp, but it is still great to see all three on the field and healthy on day one of Broncos camp.
