Lutz was one of the best and most consistent kickers in the NFL last season. He’ll look to follow that up in 2025.
Wil Lutz was phenomenal last season.
The Denver Broncos kicker finished with a 91.2% field-goal percentage and was perfect on his extra points. To put a finer point on this: Lutz missed just three field goals, going 31-of-34. It was the second time in his NFL career that he finished with over a 90% field-goal percentage, netting a 93.3% with the New Orleans Saints in 2018.
The majority of his kickoffs also result in touchbacks.
By any measure, Lutz is one of the best and most consistent kickers in the NFL. Now he’s looking to stack stellar seasons for the Broncos in 2025.

Wil Lutz’s 2025 outlook with the Broncos
Lutz is a lock to make Denver’s roster this season. He’s consistent, he’s reliable, and he has a rapport with Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
About the only negative you could say about Lutz in 2024 is his missed field goal in the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
The question around Lutz: Will he do it again?
It’s hard to improve on a season that has over a 90% field-goal percentage, especially for a kicker who plays half his games in the “elements.” It’s also hard to string seasons like that together, so some regression is to be expected in the form of another missed field goal or two. If that happens, he’s still going to finish in the upper 80% range, which is still really good.
However, if any kicker is able to stack 90% field goal seasons, it’s Lutz. He has the trust of his head coach. He has a great surrounding cast. Not to mention, he should feel extremely confident. How could you not as a kicker with the season he just had? Plus, he kicks at a mile high, so that can aid in his confidence with longer field goals.
Kickers are also a definite breed. When they’re rolling, you love them. When they struggle, you morph into Peyton Manning doing a sideline interview and your “idiot kicker.” But having one of the best kickers in the NFL gives confidence to the whole team. It’s peace of mind to have, which allows an offensive coach to be more aggressive. They know have that ace they can play if it doesn’t work.
Final thoughts
Lutz is one of the best kickers in the league. Even if he misses a few more field goals this season, that still holds true. If any kicker is capable of stacking 90% seasons, it’s Lutz.
He makes the Broncos better, and that’s the most important quality a kicker brings.
