Broncos injuries: KJ Hamler, Randy Gregory on track for Week 1

August 25, 2022 by Broncos Wire

Denver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler (knee) and outside linebacker Randy Gregory (shoulder) have both been practicing this week ahead of the team’s preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

Denver has eased Hamler and Gregory back into action with the primary goal of having them ready to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. Gregory was given a rest day Wednesday, but he hasn’t had any setbacks.

“I thought they did really good,” coach Nathaniel Hackett said Tuesday when asked how Hamler and Gregory looked out on the practice field. “Randy, you could definitely see the power off the edge — being able to set the edge. He had a couple of really good pass rush moves. Very violent with his hands, which is always good. He’s got fresh legs, so he’s flying around.

“KJ  had one touchdown on the side there. What is great for him, is I just keep thinking about every time he goes up there, how many times he’s drawn every single play over and over and over again. So the fact that he can get in there and knows the offense. He might be one of the best ones from the understanding of the offense, because he’s worked so hard. He did a good job.”

Both players certainly seem to be trending toward being available for Monday Night Football on Sept. 12, but it remains to be seen if the Broncos will give Hamler or Gregory any reps on their final preseason game.
