The Denver Broncos are increasing season ticket prices by 6%, with the average ticket cost jumping from $103.06 to $109.24, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Season ticket holders will have to pay (on average) an additional $55 for tickets in 2021.
Klis noted that the increase happened after Denver gained an extra regular season home game when the NFL switched to a 17-game season.
It’s an interesting decision from the Broncos because NFL teams sell preseason tickets at the same price as regular season tickets, implying that they have the same value. But after losing one home preseason game, Denver has the same amount of total home games (10) in 2021 as they did in 2020.
By increasing the price after one of those home games was changed to a regular season game, the Broncos are admitting that preseason tickets shouldn’t be sold at the same value as regular season tickets (everyone knows that, but this is an inadvertent confirmation from a team).
Denver (and every team) lost revenue last year from COVID-19. Not every team is increasing ticket prices, though, including the Broncos’ division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, who will open their new stadium to fans this fall.
