Broncos hope guard Graham Glasgow will avoid 'potholes' in 2021

July 28, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Graham Glasgow had a somewhat underwhelming first season with the Denver Broncos in 2020.

The veteran guard missed two games while on the COVID-19 reserve list and missed another game later in the season with a foot injury. Glasgow was penalized four times and allowed two sacks in the 13 games he did play in.

This year, Broncos coach Vic Fangio hopes Glasgow will be able to avoid the “potholes” that hindered his first year with the team.

“Hopefully [he can] avoid the roadblocks and potholes that he had last year,” Fangio said on June 15. “Like a lot of guys, it’s not as noticeable with the o-linemen as it is with quarterbacks, but [it’s his] second year in the offense and second year working next to ‘Cush’ [Lloyd Cushenberry III].

“He has some new guys that he’s got to work next to with the center position and a right tackle. I expect him to have a good season and I think he expects that out of himself, too.”

Glasgow is expected to serve as the team’s right guard this season. Next to him, Cushenberry is competing for the starting center job with Quinn Meinerz and several players are competing for the right tackle job at training camp. Glasgow will play next to at least one new starter this fall, and he’ll need to be a reliable anchor for an improving offensive line.
