The #Broncos and WR Courtland Sutton have made significant progress in recent days on a contract extension and the belief is a deal should get done “sooner than later,” per multiple sources.

Sutton is entering the final year of his contract with the Broncos and appears to be near a new deal with the team. According to reports and Head Coach Sean Payton, the two sides have made significant progress on a deal, and it could be done as soon as today.
While Sutton has not done too much during team drills the last few practices, they were having good faith conversations, which had him report to camp on time and not hold out. Now, he is nearing a much-deserved extension from the Broncos.
After an exciting start to his career with the team, injuries and poor play(QB and team) look to have derailed Sutton’s career with the Broncos. However, all that changed when Sean Payton was hired as the new Head Coach. Since being hired, Sutton’s numbers and production have skyrocketed, and he has gone from being viewed as a disappointment/trade candidate to one of the better touchdown-producing weapons in the NFL.
Over the past two seasons, Sutton has totaled 140 receptions for 1,853 yards and 18 touchdown receptions. Mixed in these 140 receptions are multiple highlight reel catches, big plays, and game-changing and game-winning receptions. Now, he will move forward with quarterback Bo Nix and give the Broncos offense a proven and established number one receiver to build around.
The Broncos’ wide receiver room is suddenly very deep. They have Marvin Mims Jr. coming off a second-half breakout, Devaughn Vele coming off a productive rookie year, the explosive Troy Franklin is having a breakout offseason thus far, and rookie Pat Bryant has been impressing early in camp.
When this deal is done, Sutton will continue to bring leadership, high-level of play, insane touchdown catches, and mentoring to the Broncos offense. Now, the team will attempt to work towards extensions with Zach Allen, Nik Bonitto, John Franklin-Myers, and Malcolm Roach.
