The Denver Broncos had a virtual pre-draft visit with Louisiana Lafayette tight end Neal Johnson, according to KPRC-TV’s Aaron Wilson.
Johnson (6-4, 233 pounds) spent five seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns, hauling in 101 receptions for 1,196 yards and 11 touchdowns in 59 games. He posted career highs in receptions (30), receiving yards (383) and touchdowns (five) in 2023.
Johnson’s 40-yard dash time is 4.77 seconds, according to DraftScout.com. The Broncos are likely considering Johnson as a late-round prospect or undrafted free agent candidate.
Denver could use more depth at tight end. Adam Trautman re-signed and Greg Dulcich seems to be healthy, but Lucas Krull is the only other true TE on the roster. Nate Adkins played a hybrid tight end/fullback role as a rookie last season. Expect the Broncos to add multiple TEs this spring, either through the draft or undrafted free agency (or both).
