The Denver Broncos recently had a virtual pre-draft visit with Boston College inside linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, according to The Draft Network’s Justin Melo.
McDuffie (6-1, 224 pounds) totaled 230 tackles — including 15.5 tackles for losses — 8.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery in four years (31 games) with college football’s Eagles.
McDuffie started as a safety before transitioning to linebacker, which might have helped his development in coverage. The Broncos are likely looking to add a coverage linebacker this offseason, but McDuffie appears to be projected as more of a special teams ace and rotational linebacker than as an instant impact rookie.
McDuffie is not among the top 15 linebackers in this year’s class (according to Draft Wire) and he probably won’t be an early-round pick. Denver might consider him in the mid-to-late rounds of April’s draft.
The Broncos are scheduled to have nine picks in the draft, including five picks in the last three rounds (view their complete pick order here).
