Broncos GM George Paton reveals philosophy and vision for Denver

January 21, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

During his introductory press conference earlier this week, new Denver Broncos general manager George Paton revealed his vision for the franchise.

“My philosophy and vision, it starts with the process-driven and our scouting department,” Patson said Tuesday. “There’ll be no shortcuts. We’re going to embrace the day to day, we’re going to embrace the grind, and we’re going to do it together. Drafting and developing players will be our foundation. It’s going to be the lifeblood of this football team. We’re going to be aggressive, but we’re not going to be reckless in player acquisition. We’re going to leave no stone unturned.”

Paton will rank below president of football operations John Elway but the GM will have control over the roster. Paton plans to include Elway and coach Vic Fangio when making decisions.

“There’s going to be a collaborative, positive and diverse work environment with free-flowing ideas,” Paton said. “Every decision made will be a consensus. It’s not going to be my decision, it’s not going to be Vic’s or John’s, it’s going to be a Denver Broncos decision. We’re going to be progressive, we’re going to be innovative, we’re going to be forward-thinking and we’re going to use all the information at our disposal to make the best-informed decisions.”

Elway hired Paton last week.

“He’s going to do a tremendous job and I’m looking forward to working with and supporting him and anything we can do to give him the best opportunity to be successful,” Elway said.

Paton said he will fully “embrace this challenge and this opportunity.”
