We asked Broncos Country where the battles will be strongest during training camp.
Training camp is just around the cover for the Denver Broncos. When the practices start, the talk is going to be around position battles. It feels like there isn’t that many starter spots up for grabs, but who knows. There are always surprises that come from camp.
Earlier this week in our FanDuel Reacts survey, I asked Broncos fans where they thought the strongest position battles would be. Of the options, three key position battles emerged: wide receiver, running back, and cornerback.

I went with the wide receiver crowd on this one too. While Courtland Sutton is a lock, there is going to be a scrum for every other spot behind him. I love the progress Marvin Mims Jr. made last season, but I’m not sure I love him outside as the number two guy. Keep him in the roll that puts the most stress on opposing defenses. There is rookie Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin who is entering his second season too, along with Devaughn Vele. There is a lot of possibilities here. I can’t wait to see how it goes.
The other two positions on the board would be running back and cornerback. The addition of J.K. Dobbins was necessary. I just didn’t see enough from Audric Estime to be totally confident it would work out in 2025. Getting Dobbins in there with RJ Harvey is going to put a lot more respect to the run game that defenses cannot ignore, which will end up helping Bo Nix.
Then on the backside, I lowkey disagree with the outcome of this poll. Pat Surtain II is obviously locked in and I’d put Riley Moss outside. Jahdae Barron in that ‘joker’ type role on defense and will likely take Ja’Quan McMillian’s starting job. The addition of Barron really solidifies the cornerback position and the real competition is going to be who fills out the depth behind McMillian.
Overall, the roster is looking like it is on the rise and keeps getting incrementally better each season. Of course, none of that would matter without Bo Nix. Being settled at quarterback is literally everything when trying to build a contender.
