Broncos dominate on offense and defense to blow out Cowboys 30-16 on the road

The Denver Broncos just proved to themselves and all of us that they can beat anyone. They just need to play with that kind of intensity every week and this team could turn things around quick!

With the entire world seemingly stacked against the Denver Broncos all week with the Von Miller trade and all of the negativity with the line growing to double-digits leading up to Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the players came out and completely dominated on the road from start to finish.

We have seen the full potential of this team and I truly hope we are going to see this more in the second half the season. A win like this could absolutely start a run.

If anyone reading this thought the Broncos would beat the Cowboys 30-16 today, ya’ll are lying. Denver moved to 5-4 and if they can beat the Philadelphia Eagles at home next week they could enter the Bye week with a 6-4 record. I think all of us would have been happy with that if asked back in August.

First Quarter

The Broncos defense came out to play in this game early. The were forcing the Cowboys into third downs on almost every set of downs and even came up with two huge fourth down stops on the Broncos side of the field to keep Dallas scoreless in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, after a rough first offense series, the Broncos put together a big touchdown drive where they rushed for 50 yards on just eight carries. However, the biggest play was this 25-yard catch by Jerry Jeudy that ultimately led to the touchdown score.

Second Quarter

Instead of being an aberration, the first quarter was just a harbinger of things to come in the second quarter as the Broncos defense continued to stymie the Cowboys offense. Meanwhile, the Broncos offense was racking up the rushing yards finishing just shy of 100 yards on the ground in the first half.

They also added 10 points in the quarter to increase their lead to 16-0 at halftime with the biggest play of the quarter being this 44-yard bomb from Bridgewater to Tim Patrick to blow the game wide open for Denver.

Third Quarter

The domination on defense continued through the third quarter despite a missed field goal by Brandon McManus. The third quarter featured Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon who finished the third quarter with a total of 94 and 78 yards rushing respectively in the game. One of those runs, this 38-yarder from Williams that led to a score that put Denver up by 19.

Fourth Quarter

The biggest key to the game that I had was for Denver to control time of possession and that is exactly what they did through three quarters.

Facing another third and long early in the fourth quarter, Bridgewater found Kendall Hinton on third and 14 for a huge play down the field to the Cowboys’ two yard line for a first and goal. That 41-yard gain was a game-clincher.

Three plays later, Teddy Bridgewater jumped over the line for the touchdown to put Denver up big with 11 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. They would go for two to make it a four score lead. Bridgewater found Courtland Sutton in the back of the end zone for the conversion to cap a 13-play, 85-yard drive.

Broncos 27, Cowboys 0.

Desperation mode went into effect for the Cowboys from there and their next possession would have been a three and out, but they went for it from their own 27-yard line. Caden Sterns came up with the interception at the 37-yard line for the Broncos defense. That would lead to another field goal and a 30-0 lead with six minutes to go in the game.

The rest of the game was merely a formality as Denver moved to 5-4.
