Breaking: Jets Connected to Possible Blockbuster Trade

June 14, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After acquiring quarterback Justin Fields this offseason, the Jets could look to bolster the wide receiver department with the trade of Courtland Sutton. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay thinks that if the Denver Broncos can’t replicate the same success from last season, they could trade Sutton before the deadline. Originally selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former SMU product is entering the final year of his contract and has yet to earn another deal despite posting the best season last year. Sutton is one of the most dependable wide receivers in today’s game, so it’s hard to imagine the Broncos haven’t given him a new extension, but this also means the Broncos could be sellers if they endure a losing campaign.

It’s a stretch that the Broncos could have a losing season, considering the way things are going in Denver under quarterback Bo Nix. However, it’s not impossible, as the Jets have a promising offensive roster, but they lack a true WR2 option behind Garrett Wilson after they failed to get anything out of Davante Adams. The Jets now have Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds to be the other two contributors for Fields’ aerial attack, so the Sutton trade would make sense to strengthen their roster. Although Sutton has dealt with injuries and inconsistencies for the majority of his career, this might affect his presence with the Broncos as 2024 draft pick, Devaughn Vele is reportedly turning heads at training camp.

Since the Broncos are already rebuilding a new team either way, a Sutton trade in general would make sense. Here are two other teams that may trade for Sutton this 2025 campaign.

Breaking: Jets Connected to Possible Blockbuster Courtland Sutton Trade – Cowboys, Chargers Could Intervene

Completing the Dynamic Trio

Why not? Quarterback Dak Prescott isn’t getting any younger, and since trade acquisition Joe Milton has been impressing head coach Brian Schottenheimer, they should put Prescott in the best position to win. He shouldn’t be chasing stats anymore, but rather getting Dallas towards the next level after missing the majority of the 2024 campaign with a season-ending injury. After trading for George Pickens to add some bolster alongside CeeDee Lamb, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to continue adding more. Lamb and Pickens are their own WR1’s and with that, they need a capable WR2 to hold down the entire offensive pass game.

Sutton is more than reliable to do that, as Prescott knows how to utilize most of his talent. Jalen Tolbert is entering the final year of his contract, and Sutton could easily be the replacement for this unit. The Cowboys can’t let Pickens go to waste this season, and the team should know that. There’s no better way than for the team to trade for Sutton if they’re struggling with the presence of Sutton to help Pickens, Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson in the aerial attack.

Superstar Talent in LA

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of a wide receiver. They lack a true long-term No. 1 playmaker, even though 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is developing into a promising wideout. Veteran Mike Williams is washed up and Quentin Johnston might be on thin ice. The Chargers might never get Sutton in a trade, but it’s hard to ignore the fit he could have as a long-term weapon alongside McConkey and 2025 draft pick Tre Harris.
