Bradley Chubb hopes Broncos bring back Von Miller and Shelby Harris

January 14, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Justin Simmons isn’t the only Denver Broncos defender with an uncertain future entering the 2021 offseason.

Broncos defensive lineman Shelby Harris is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March and outside linebacker Von Miller will likely be asked to restructure his contract. Fellow outside linebacker Bradley Chubb hopes to see both players remain in Denver.

“When you talk about those two guys, you are talking about generational talents,” Chubb said on Jan. 1. “Von proved that nobody in this league can block him one-on-one, he can have his way and do whatever he wants in this league and get sacks on whoever he wants. He the prototypical outside linebacker, so I feel like with a guy like that, we can show what we can do.”

Chubb also praised Harris, who knocked down seven passes in 11 games last season.

“With Shelby back on the line, getting that penetration and getting his hands up on balls — just that disruption, getting quarterbacks frustrated is something that gets those guys out of their head and those DBs behind us play good because of that. So, it’s huge to have those guys on the field this year.”

The Broncos’ next general manager will need to make decisions on Simmons, Miller and Harris in his first offseason on the job. The crowd-pleasing move would be to bring all three players back. Negotiations — and salary cap restrictions — might make that impossible, but fans can hope for it nonetheless.
