Aqib Talib joining Amazon's 'Thursday Night Football' coverage

July 1, 2022 by Broncos Wire

Amazon will begin exclusively streaming Thursday Night Football games on Prime Video this season, and they’ve built quite the commentary crew in recent months.

Amazon poached Al Michaels from NBC’s Sunday Night Football and ESPN college football commentator Kirk Herbstreit to call TNF games this fall. The company also hired Charissa Thompson to serve as a pregame host.

There’s more.

Former Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is also expected to join TNF‘s studio crew alongside ex-offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, according to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.

Talib will be “involved in pre-game, halftime and postgame,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Post has also reported that Tony Gonzalez, Richard Sherman and Ryan Fitzpatrick will work for Amazon as analysts.

Talib has been serving as a color commentator for NFL games on Fox since 2020. It’s unclear if his role on Fox will continue while working for Amazon.

Talib began his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008 before a stint with the New England Patriots. He then joined the Broncos in 2014 and he was a key member of Denver’s “No Fly Zone” secondary that helped the team win Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season.

After spending four years with the Broncos, Talib spent a year and a half with the Los Angeles Rams before finishing his career with the Miami Dolphins. Talib retired from the NFL in 2020 and began working for Fox shortly thereafter.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Talib totaled 125 pass breakups, 35 interceptions (10 returned for touchdowns), five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one sack during his 12-year career in the NFL.
