A wide open NFL season makes for plenty of movement in the ALLCITY NFL Power Rankings this week. I think you can make the case for 10 different Super Bowl contenders this year.
Of course, that may depend on whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs – who are currently outside the playoffs right now – get their season on track in time for January.
As we head into Week 10, here are thoughts on all 32 teams:
1. Buffalo Bills (5) (6-2) – My preseason Super Bowl pick finally rises to the top after Josh Allen got another regular season win over Patrick Mahomes. The Bills are still in the thick of the battle for the AFC’s No. 1 overall seed.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (3) (6-2) – The Eagles return from their bye with a tough stretch: three of four games against the NFC North (they already beat the Vikings).
3. Kansas City Chiefs (1) (5-4) – With back-to-back games against the Broncos and Colts looming, we’re about to find out if the Chiefs’ issues will derail their dynasty run. My gut tells me they’ll be just fine.
4. Los Angeles Rams (7) (6-3) – EPA metrics indicate the Rams might be the best team in football. It’s time to take them seriously.
5. Detroit Lions (2) (5-3) – The Lions are missing Ben Johnson at least a little bit – especially in the run game.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) (6-2) – The Bucs desperately needed their bye week. And now they have games against the Patriots, Bills and Rams. Buckle up.
7. Seattle Seahawks (9) (6-2) – Mike Macdonald and Klint Kubiak are both just 38 years old and have the Seahawks rolling on both sides of the ball.
8. Indianapolis Colts (6) (7-2) – How do you say “must win” in German? Muss gewinnen. If the Colts are for real, they should be able to handle the Falcons in Berlin.
9. Denver Broncos (10) (7-2) – There is not a wilder quarterback roller coaster this year than Bo Nix, but the Broncos keep winning.
10. New England Patriots (11) (7-2) – If the Patriots can find a way to win in Tampa on Sunday, it’s conceivable they’ll be on a 10-game winning streak when they face the Bills again on Dec. 14.
11. San Francisco 49ers (12) (6-3) – The 49ers’ last seven weeks: win, loss, win, loss, win, loss, win. Probably wise to pick the Rams this week.
12. Green Bay Packers (8) (5-2-1) – Matt LaFleur’s teams seem to play down to their competition. So maybe it’s a good thing the Eagles are visiting Lambeau Field on Monday. The Packers could use a statement game.
13. Baltimore Ravens (13) (3-5) – And just like that, the Ravens are favored to win the AFC North again.
14. Los Angeles Chargers (14) (5-4) – Losing Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater to season-ending injuries in the same year is brutal.
15. Chicago Bears (15) (5-3) – Ben Johnson has successfully installed a dominant run game. Next up: more consistency from Caleb Williams, who is playing well.
16. Minnesota Vikings (16) (4-4) – J.J. McCarthy was up-and-down in Detroit, but the guy wins football games.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers (20) (5-3) – The Steelers stopped the bleeding with an emphatic win over the Colts. Now comes a fun Sunday night game against the Chargers in which Steelers fans will take over Sofi Stadium.
18. Carolina Panthers (22) (5-4) – The playoffs still seem like a longshot, but Dave Canales is having the exact type of “buy-in” season he needed from this group.
19. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) (5-3) – Acquiring Jakobi Meyers is a solid band-aid while Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. deal with injuries.
20. Houston Texans (17) (3-5) – C.J. Stroud wasn’t having a great season, but they lost him at a terrible time. Sunday’s game against the Jaguars is a must-win.
21. Atlanta Falcons (19) (3-5) – Since upsetting the Bills, the Falcons have lost three straight and are really struggling to score points.
22. Arizona Cardinals (26) (3-6) – The Cardinals desperately ended their five-game losing streak and finally have some clarity at quarterback with Kyler Murray going on Injured Reserve. Unfortunately, a trip to Seattle looms. Bad timing on that one.
23. Dallas Cowboys (21) (3-5-1) – Lose another game on Monday. Give up a ton of draft capital for Quinnen Williams on Tuesday. What a weird, weird franchise.
24. Cleveland Browns (25) (2-6) – It’s crazy to think about how the Browns won 11 games just two years ago.
25. Cincinnati Bengals (23) (3-6) – The Bengals defense has to be one of the worst defenses we’ve seen in the NFL in quite some time. They are completely lost as a unit.
26. Washington Commanders (24) (3-6) – Speaking of lost, the Commanders have lost all their momentum from last year’s surprising run to the NFC Championship. Now you have to wonder what their long-term vision will be going forward. This is the oldest roster in the league.
27. Miami Dolphins (27) (2-7) – With interim GM Champ Kelly now in charge, it was surprising to see the Dolphins not sell off more pieces at the trade deadline.
28. New York Giants (28) (2-7) – The Giants can’t stop the run and now face the league’s hottest rushing team – the Chicago Bears – on Sunday in frigid weather.
29. Las Vegas Raiders (29) (2-7) – Is it time to wonder if Pete Carroll will be one-and-done in Las Vegas?
30. New York Jets (30) (1-7) – A bad team is now entering another rebuild. Is this what Aaron Glenn signed up for?
31. Tennessee Titans (32) (1-8) – I was shocked to see the Titans hang with the Chargers, but then realized it was because they got a pick-6 and a punt return touchdown. They didn’t score an offensive touchdown in the 27-20 loss.
32. New Orleans Saints (31) (1-8) – The schedule isn’t too daunting so the Saints will probably pull out another win or two, but it’s probably best for them if they don’t.
