AFC West standings: Broncos are No. 2 entering Week 4

September 28, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Three weeks into the 2021 NFL season, the Denver Broncos are currently the No. 2 team in the AFC West. The Las Vegas Raiders are also undefeated and they edge the Broncos out on a tiebreaker for the No. 1 spot.

Here’s a look at where the division stands entering Week 4:

Team Record Div. Conf.
Las Vegas Raiders 3-0 0-0 3-0
Denver Broncos 3-0 0-0 2-0
Los Angeles Chargers 2-1 1-0 1-0
Kansas City Chiefs 1-2 0-1 0-1

The first three tiebreakers (head-to-head, division record and common games) do not apply for Denver and Las Vegas yet, so the fourth tiebreaker (conference record) gives the Raiders an edge. Las Vegas already has three wins in the AFC while the Broncos only have two.

It’s safe to say not many fans and pundits would have expected the Chiefs to be ranked last in the division entering Week 4, but it’s obviously early in the season. Even so, jumping out to a good start in the division is a great development for the Broncos, who will face a tougher schedule going forward.
