3 Broncos make list of top 101 players in the NFL

July 15, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Doug Farrar and Mark Schofield of Touchdown Wire recently put together a list of the top 101 players in the NFL, and three Denver Broncos made the cut.

Broncos slot cornerback Bryce Callahan is ranked No. 81.

“Callahan was limited to just 10 games due to a foot injury last season, but on those 120 snaps, he allowed six receptions on 14 targets for 41 yards, 12 yards after the catch, no touchdowns, two interceptions, and an absolutely preposterous opponent passer rating of 10.7 — by far the lowest of any regular slot defender in the NFL last season,” Farrar and Schofield wrote.

Denver’s left tackle, Garett Bolles, is ranked No. 58.

“In 622 pass-blocking reps last season, Bolles gave up no sacks, eight quarterback hits, and five quarterback hurries — and that was with a quarterback in Drew Lock whose field awareness often made protecting him tougher than it should have been,” Farrar and Schofield wrote.

Finally, Broncos safety Justin Simmons is ranked No. 31.

“Against passes of 20 or more air yards, Simmons was as good a deep eraser as there was in the NFL, allowing two catches on five targets for 72 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions,” Farrar and Schofield wrote. “Simmons’ ability to help his teammates recover from coverage issues deep downfield is a huge part of his game.”

Von Miller, Denver’s star outside linebacker, did not make the cut.
