Three Denver Broncos players will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, the team has announced.
Cornerbacks Essang Bassey (ACL) and Duke Dawson (ACL) and linebacker Baron Browning (leg) will all be sidelined to begin camp.
Bassey and Dawson both suffered knee injuries last December while Browning injured his leg during the team’s offseason program.
The trio of players can’t practice while on the PUP list, but they are eligible to be activated back to the active roster at any time this summer.
Meanwhile, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam (knee), wide receiver Courtland Sutton (knee), outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (ankle), wide receiver KJ Hamler (hamstring) and edge defender Jonathon Cooper (heart procedure) avoided the PUP list, which seems to be positive news for their recoveries.
Broncos coach Vic Fangio said last month that Chubb will be “ready to go” at camp, but the team will ease him back into action.
