The Syracuse Orange put together an incredible offensive attack this past season and running back LeQuint Allen was at the forefront. He currently projects as a day-three prospect. Here is a 2025 NFL Draft scouting report and film analysis on him.

Player Background:
LeQuint Allen committed to the Syracuse Orange as a three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle. He made his first collegiate start late in his freshman season against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Pinstripe Bowl. In that game, Allen posted 94 rushing yards and 60 receiving yards. His 11 receptions set a Syracuse bowl game record and that was just the start of an impressive collegiate career.
Over the next two seasons, Allen became one of the best players in the Atlantic Coast Conference. As a true sophomore, he led the ACC in plays from scrimmage while posting over 1,200 yards and 10 total touchdowns. In 13 games as a true junior, Allen cemented himself as one of the best Orange running backs ever. His 64 receptions and 521 receiving yards were the most in a single season by a Syracuse running back. He was one of only two backs in the nation to have 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards.

Strengths:
Allen can be an instant three-down back at the next level. He has the ability to run the football on early downs, hold his own in pass protection and contribute consistently as a receiver.
As a runner, Allen has good vision out in space. He knows when to utilize his impressive stutter step move or turn into an angry runner and seek out contact. He looks to finish every run with violence and physicality. On film, he is similar to Isaiah Pacheco coming out of the University of Rutgers. What Allen lacks in size, he makes up for in his violent mentality. When running inside and near the end zone, he has an incredible ability to shrink himself and fit through small gaps causing the defenders to lose sight of him.

In pass protection, Allen brings that same angry mentality. He anchors effectively but also finishes blocks. Time and time again he is knocking blitzing five yards back and opening up an area for the quarterback to step into.
When watching Allen, it’s easy to mistake him for a receiver rather than a running back. He does more than just catch screen passes, check downs or option routes. His ability to line up in the slot or outside and consistently win is unprecedented for a running back prospect coming out of college. He understands how to use his route running ability to separate and when open, rarely drops the football.
Weaknesses
For Allen to be a three-down back at the next level, he will need to be better between the tackles. He runs with a very high center of gravity meaning tacklers can knock him off balance easily. There are too many instances where defenders are able to tackle him below the waist, cut his legs out from beneath him and force a negative play.
His vision behind the line of scrimmage is a concern as well. There were too many examples of Allen running into the back of his offensive lineman and being taken down for a loss. This may be the reason why he has a tendency to bounce runs to the outside where he lacks explosiveness to reach the edge consistently.
Speed is a real concern for him at the next level. He doesn’t accelerate or possess the burst evaluators tend to look for in the current offensive state of the NFL. His 40-yard time at the combine will be really important. If he runs into the low 4.50s, like he currently is expected to, it will be hard for teams to justify spending a top-100 pick on him.
Potential Team Fits:
NFL Projection:
Allen is a young prospect who won’t turn 21 until August. At worst, he is a red zone, third down specialist at the next level given his receiving ability and physicality. There is also a world where he could be a workhouse back in the NFL. Allen led his conference in touches during his sophomore season and has shown the ability to consistently play within that role. He isn’t limited to a zone or gap-specific scheme which will provide any team with incredible roster value further as the second or third running back on the depth chart.
