Que Robinson is a 6’4”, 243-pound edge rusher out of Alabama who is now a member of the Denver Broncos defense. He is being called one of the steals of the draft already and will add some depth to the Broncos’ edge rushing unit while also instantly becoming a key special-teams player. His special teams play is widely praised, and we all know how Sean Payton values that part of the game.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler had Robinson ranked as his 28th-best edge rusher in the draft and calls him a traits-based edge rusher who needs development but will thrive on special teams in the short term.
He flashes range as a run defender and short-area quickness as a pass rusher, but he needs to replace his hands consistently on his get-off and become comfortable countering once initially blocked. Overall, Robinson is a traits-based, tweener prospect with potential as an edge setter, although his lack of development is going to stick out like a sore thumb next to NFL players in training camp. His saving grace is his coverage talent on special teams, which might keep him on a roster as he grows as a defender.
The Broncos continue to add to their defense while also improving their special teams unit in the process. I am excited to see his development, and a player we’ll likely see a lot of during training camp and the preseason.
You can never have enough talented pass rushers on your roster!
