In a recent 2021 NFL mock draft for CBS Sports, Ryan Wilson has the Denver Broncos selecting Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields in the first round. Wilson has Fields as the third QB off the board, behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence (No. 1 overall) and BYU’s Zach Wilson (No. 4 overall).
“He’s undeniably talented but there are concerns about aspects of his game that could see him be something other than one of the first two QBs drafted,” Wilson wrote.
After a poor performance against Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship, Fields had a huge game against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
After completing 22-of-28 passes for 385 yards and six scores in a 49-28 win over the Tigers, Fields will lead the Buckeyes against Alabama in the national title game on Monday.
Todd McShay’s latest mock draft on ESPN has the Broncos selecting Notre Dame inside linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. If the team doesn’t go after a quarterback, cornerback or linebacker would make sense. Drew Lock’s status will remain uncertain until after Denver hires a new general manager.
