Utah Mammoth Extend Young Star

October 29, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

The Utah Mammoth have announced that they have extended forward Logan Cooley. Cooley signed an eight-year deal with an AAV of $10 million per season. The deal was announced late Wednesday morning.

Utah Mammoth #TusksUp and Logan Cooley have agreed to terms on an extension: 8 years x $10 million = $80 million.

Utah Mammoth Sign Young Centre Long Term

Cooley has been off to a magnificent start this year, scoring eight goals and 12 points in 11 games.

Over his three-year NHL career, Cooley has 53 goals and 121 points in 168 games.

Cooley was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes (before officially moving to Utah) third overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Mammoth Lock Up Integral Part of their Future

Cooley entered the league like he was a shot out of a cannon, scoring 20 goals in his rookie season and a respectable 44 points. He then managed to escape the dreaded sophomore slump, improving his career best totals to 25 goals and 65 points in 75 games before starting this season at over a point per game pace in the early going. Cooley has quickly become the most important fixture on the Mammoth roster. He is really living up to his third overall selection in 2022.

Utah has been off to a magnificent start with a record of 8-3. This has them not only tied for first in the Western Conference but the entire league. Cooley has played a significant part in helping them become such a dominant team in the early going, as the Mammoth are currently one goal back from leading the league in goals. Cooley, of course, leads the way for the Mammoth. His eight goals currently leads the team. While his 12 points has him tied for second on the Mammoth.

It was important for the Mammoth not to let the Cooley contract linger into the summer, and they wanted to show him that he was an important piece of the puzzle moving forward. Getting the deal done early does just that. It was rumoured that Cooley had turned down a massive contract offer from the Mammoth earlier this month. Clearly, they found a common ground as they now have him locked up for the foreseeable future. Now the Mammoth can set their focus elsewhere and use Cooley as a way to try to entice other players to come play in Utah, knowing they have a young superstar staying there for the long haul.
