Colorado gets one of their depth wingers locked up for half a decade!
On the first day of free agency, the Colorado Avalanche had an overall quiet day but made a couple of moves, one of which was extending Parker Kelly for four years. Kelly has one more season left on his current contract with an AAV of $825K, before this extension officially kicks in next year, which carries a $1.7 million AAV.

Kelly joined the Avs last summer when he was not offered a qualifying offer by the Ottawa Senators, effectively making him a free agent. At that time, Colorado offered him a two-year contract with an AAV of $825K, which is his current deal, before extending him today, as previously mentioned.
He had a pretty respectable season given his depth role on the team, putting up eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points this past season, which was a career high for him. Kelly naturally plays winger, which is where I would expect him to slot in again this upcoming season, as that’s where he did really well for this Avs performance-wise. It’s nice to have a piece of your depth locked up for another four years, and hopefully Kelly can find more success on this team in the upcoming seasons.
