There’s a Colorado hockey team still playing.
The five-round AHL playoffs continue as the Colorado Eagles advanced out of their second round matchup with the San Jose Barracuda in a 3-1 series win. In the four games, forwards Matthew Phillips, Tye Felhaber, Jason Megna each led the team with six points, with the latter two each scoring three goals. The Eagles were spared the first round “play-in” by virtue of winning the Pacific Division and were well rested enough after the bye to make quick work of the Barracuda.

For the third round dubbed the “division finals” the Eagles will take on a familiar foe in the Abbotsford Canucks. Colorado will start the series in Canada for two games and then hope to close out this best-of-five series at home in Loveland. First game is tonight, May 16th at 8 p.m. MT which can be seen on FloHockey.

Abbortsford, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, has been an adversary all year for the Eagles. They climbed all the way to second in the Pacific Division and finished just two points behind Colorado with a 44-24-4 record. This is a very tough match for the Eagles as they lost the regular season series to the Canucks 2-4-2 and didn’t win a game in Abbotsford. Canucks prospect goaltender Arturs Silvos has put up a .935 save percentage and 1.74 goals against average so Trent Miner will have to continue his .939 sv% and 1.96 GAA run himself for the Eagles to advance.
Update: Tonight’s game will be streamed for free.
