Colorado Avalanche Is The 2022 Stanley Cup Champions

June 27, 2022 by Last Word On Hockey

Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup

The Colorado Avalanche are the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions! After a 2-1 win in Game 6 against the defending champions Tampa Bay Lightning, the Avalanche has won the cup.

Colorado Avalanche Wins 2022 Stanley Cup

After a hard-fought series against Tampa Bay, Colorado takes the shiny silver trophy home. Game 6 was a very balanced game and started with Tampa opening the score in the first period. But if anyone counted the Avalanche off, they were wrong. One thing that has never happened throughout this series was the Avs giving up. They fought back and Nathan MacKinnon scored to tie the game. In the second period, Artturi Lehkonen scored the go-ahead goal and game-winning goal. It was a blast.

For the Avs, this was their first time in the Finals since their last SC win in 2001. But now they have another one, It was a deserving series and the Avalanche deserved it.

Cale Makar, Darcy Kuemper, MacKinnon and the rest of the team did an amazing job at defending against the current champions and now, they enter next season as the defenders!

Emotional Ride

For the veterans Erik Johnson and Gabriel Landeskog, it’s been a long time coming. They’ve been with the team through all the ups and downs and now have finally reached the number one goal. Without Samuel Girard and with multiple injuries, everything was about finding a way, and they did. From Game 1 of the first round until now, the Avalanche were doing everything they could to be the best team possible, playing a clean and smart game since day one. And for Lehkonen, to have the game-winning goal against the team that denied him the Cup last year? That’s brilliant. Not a better storyline to finish the season with!
